Everything to Know About Channing Tatum's Wife

Jenna Dewan is an American actress and dancer, who got her start back-up dancing in music videos and on national tours. Known for her dancing, current work on "Supergirl" and being the wife of A-list actor Channing Tatum, Jenna Dewan is slowly but surely becoming a name to recognize. The actress currently has a net worth of $6 million, which seems to be growing with each new year, proving she's more than simply Tatum's wife.

Dance, Dance

Jenna Dewan's always had a passion for dance, a career path she decided to seriously travel down before she even graduated from high school. She'd spent most of her life preparing for a future in the world of dance, and at the age of 16 was discovered by a dancing agent. Having prepared for this moment during the majority of her younger years, Dewan wasted no time and happily moved to Los Angeles after getting her diploma. Eager for her career to take off, Dewan put herself out there and went to every dance audition she possibly could. Before long, Dewan was gracing movie and television screens and dancing behind some of the most iconic performers of this generation. Dewan starred in the music videos of Mandy Moore, Missy Elliot, Ricky Martin and Toni Braxton, but she credits her success to the work she did with Janet Jackson. Dewan danced in Jackson's "Doesn't Really Matter" video, her "All For You" video a year later, then landed a spot as a back-up dancer on Jackson's "All For You" Tour. It was the work on Jackson's videos and tours that Dewan believes led to her impressive career. She gained some much needed experience and multiple doors to work with other artists were opened to her. She'd go on to dance with N*Sync and Pink before her acting career took off and she started dancing with Tatum.

Over a decade after its release, "Step Up" is still one of the movies Dewan is most known for. The smash hit of 2006 not only introduced the actress to her future husband but skyrocketed her career. The film was well-received by young audiences; incorporating both classical and hip-hop dance within the love story meant there was something in it for everyone. Dewan played Nora Clark opposite Tatum's Tyler Gage, two talented dancers from different worlds who are forced to find a way to work with one another. Nora, a dedicated ballet dancer at Maryland School of Arts, turns to Tyler, a hip-hop dancer from the wrong side of the tracks, when her current dance partner is injured and she needs a replacement fast. The two butt heads at first, but eventually they start relating to each other over their shared passion for dance, and ultimately fall for each other. Life imitated art, as Dewan and Tatum were falling for each other behind the scenes alongside their on-screen counterparts. "Step Up" was such a success that it led to a franchise. After Dewan and Tatum starred in the first movie in the series, they stepped back to make room for other aspiring actors, giving Tatum only had a small cameo in the sequel. There are four additional "Step Up" movies, and Dewan and Tatum have made their return as executive producers in the series' upcoming web show "Step Up: High Water."

Television Success

Dewan has seen consistent success on the television screen since the late 2000's. She starred in "Fab Five: The Texas Cheerleader Scandal" a television film which appeared on the Lifetime Movie Network and had guest roles on "Joey" and "Melrose Place." In 2011, Dewan landed her first starring role in the incredible short-lived series "The Playboy Club." The series followed the lives of the members of the original Playboy Club in Chicago. Dewan played Janie, a fun-loving Bunny who couldn't marry the man in her life because she was technically already someone's wife. Unfortunately, the series was canceled after only three episodes aired. Thankfully, Dewan wasn't down for long. She'd go on to have a recurring role in "American Horror Story: Asylum" the following year, then land starring roles in a new television series and made for television movie the year after that. In 2013 Dewan starred as Sarah Pender in the TV film "She Made Them Do It" based on the true story of Sarah Jo Pender; a young college student who was sent to prison after her boyfriend killed her two roommates. That same year she landed one of her biggest roles to-date, Freya Beauchamp in Lifetime's "Witches of East End." Dewan starred in all 23 episodes of the two season show and was at the forefront of the series most popular couple. The soapy supernatural drama was a huge hit with fans, the most dedicated ones starting a petition for the show's return. Three years since the finale and the petition has 272,000 signatures. Her most recent work is in the form of a recurring role, on The CW's popular female-led show "Supergirl." Dewan plays Lucy Lane, Lois Lane's younger sister and ex-girlfriend of James Olsen. Lucy's an Army Major and has helped Supergirl herself in rescue missions.

Whether it's in the form of Tatum posting pictures of his wife on Instagram or a simple magazine spread, Dewan is always praised for her beautiful appearance. She's certainly blessed with a dancer's body, after years of workouts and on-stage performances. It seems both Dewan and Tatum are admired for their movie star good looks, a husband and wife duo worth fawning over. In 2016, Dewan was the face of Danskin, a dancewear line eager to use an actual dancer in their campaign. They highlighted her athleticism as a professional dancer throughout the photo shoot, releasing a series of ads starring Dewan. She not only does workouts regularly, but she attributes some of her envy-worthy body to her vegan lifestyle. Dewan started out as a vegetarian, but made the jump to the full-on vegan diet and couldn't be happier. It has given her more energy, a clear head, beautiful skin and a body to die for. Dewan is such a fan of the vegan lifestyle, she encouraged Tatum to give it a try. Tatum wasn't as fond of the diet, giving up on it after a mere few months. Dewan recognizes it's not for everyone, and while it does give an added challenge not having Tatum participating alongside her, she gladly accepts that it isn't the lifestyle for him.

One of Hollywood's most loved couples, Dewan and Tatum have a love story for the ages. Their chemistry was off the charts in "Step Up" and Tatum knew right away there was a connection with Dewan that would lead to something special. Tatum was even hesitant to make a move, knowing Dewan wasn't simply a girl he'd casually date and had the potential to become his future wife. He was luckily talked out of his fear, showed up to her hotel room with a sombrero on, and the rest is history. Dewan and Tatum got together shortly after their movie finished filming, and have been together ever since. Tatum proposed in Maui in 2008 and the couple became husband and wife a year later in Malibu. On May 31st, 2013, Dewan gave birth to the couple's first child, Everly Elizabeth Maiselle Tatum. It's clear how happy Dewan and Tatum are together. Tatum often posts pictures of the smiling couple on Instagram, whether they're at a premiere, spending time with their daughter, or just enjoying one another's company on a camping trip, the couple documents almost everything on the social media site. Dewan and Tatum are known for being open with their relationship, from their sex life to how they make it look so easy. When you're so in love there's no reason not to share it with the world. They both believe they wouldn't have the careers they do without the support of one another, and with their combined net worth of over $60 million, it's well worth it. The adorable family doesn't know when, but they know they plan on spreading more love and welcoming another bundle of joy into their lives someday.

What's Next?

Jenna Dewan's life is enviable in every sense of the word. She has a budding acting career, a successful dance career under her belt and a gorgeous husband to boot. Whether she's starring on the small screen or popping up on Tatum's Instagram, Dewan brings a smile to both her and her husband's fans and she doesn't seem to be stopping anytime soon. Her career only continues to grow, and while Channing Tatum takes over Hollywood, she'll be right behind him making a mark of her own.
